Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
