Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
