Arsenal's manager remains confident that his squad can keep managing with injury setbacks following confirming that forward Kai Havertz is not ready for several more weeks.

Extended Absence for German Star

Havertz has been out for months due to an operation on his knee. Originally slated to return sooner, Arteta revealed the player encountered a problem when advancing his rehabilitation and could not progress “the required stage.”

“Our experience helped us build a team that is considerably steadier and has more options,” Arteta said.

Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash

This update leaves a tactical puzzle for Wednesday’s home game against Brentford. A decision is required between sticking with Mikel Merino, who got a goal as a makeshift striker last weekend, or recalling Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return from a muscle injury off the bench. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus remains an option after 11 months out.

Fitness Doubts Persist

Further fitness issues involve centre-back William Saliba and attacker Leandro Trossard, who sat out the weekend encounter. Consequently, recent arrivals Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are likely to continue in central defence for the Premier League front-runners.

Arteta believes the substantial investment on squad depth in the last transfer window has placed the club in a more robust situation to navigate such absences.

Questioned if more options was benefiting their championship push, Arteta was emphatic. “Indeed, as this campaign has presented greater challenges in some areas, and now what’s happening with the backline,” he continued.

“History has shown us that we have to use players in different positions, and they must be capable to fulfil different roles if we are to fight at this level. And the case of Mikel is probably the prime illustration.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Suffering Havertz

Commenting on the setback noted by Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided additional context. “His recovery was progressing. He was unable to progress to the next level and now it’s looking like we have overcome that hurdle.”

The manager conveyed his personal desire to welcome him back. “We’re all desperate to have him. Truly, he is a footballer who, personally, I value highly for his contributions to the team, but his personality, his nature. I see him suffer while sidelined.”

“His availability record is outstanding, he's usually fit, and I am eagerly awaiting to have him back involved and playing because I believe it’s going to be a huge lift.”
