Person Who Approached Ariana Grande on the occasion of Film Launch Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality that leaped past a barrier and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.
The man, 26, was sentenced to nine days in detention for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," Singaporean immigration authorities told local media.
He forced his way through camera crews and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was present at the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.
The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of causing further distress to the star.
The celebrity has spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her performance in Manchester in several years ago took the lives of 22 people and injured hundreds.
In the legal process, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere twice, according to regional reports.
He then made a another effort to breach security. Security staff intercepted him and restrained him.
The man subsequently shared video clips thanking Grande for letting him on the carpet and said he was "free."
Authorities arrested him the subsequent day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.
The Presiding Judge the magistrate was referenced by Channel News Asia as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", adding that he was wrong to think he would not suffer any consequences.
The singer has not spoken about the incident.
The co-star spoke about the incident to a media outlet, remarking that she "just wanted to ensure my friend was safe."
"I think he had no intention to us injury, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I aimed to confirm that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she said.
